Our partnership with fellow northerners, the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys, helps us to bring the club’s development program to our port communities.

In 2021, the North Queensland Cowboys and North Queensland Bulk Ports Corporation (NQBP) are “Moving Forward Together” with a new ground-breaking community partnership.

Each year, hundreds of local kids and community members look forward to our two-day Bulk Port Blitzes in Sarina, Mackay, Bowen and Weipa.

"Our community partnership with the Cowboys is one of our largest and longest and enables us to make a positive impact on communities throughout the north."

NQBP CEO Nicolas Fertin

As well as skills on the field, students hear first-hand from some of their sporting heroes how to make smart choices off the field. In past years, Cowboys legends, including Matthew Bowen and Brent Tate, have shared their own stories of hard work and commitment as the path to success in many of life's endeavours.

The Blitzes are tailored to our different communities, but broadly feature an action-packed program run by North Queensland Bulk Ports and Cowboys players, along with development officers from the club.

Mackay Bulk Ports Blitz

North Queensland Bulk Ports Corporation (NQBP) and the North Queensland Cowboys kicked off their 2021 ground-breaking community partnership with a March two-day Bulk Port Blitz in Mackay.

Visits to both local schools and our Port of Mackay took place along with an event which brought together business and community leaders in celebration of women in leadership on International Women's Day.

More than 70 attendees were inspired by keynote speaker Rochelle Jones' passion for changing lives in her role as head of NRL Cowboys House, looking after the education and wellbeing of 105 Indigenous youth from 28 remote communities. Rochelle was joined at the event by Cowboys legend Matthew Bowen and players Javid Bowen and Kane Bradley.
