North Queensland Bulk Ports (NQBP), on behalf of Rio Tinto, is undertaking refurbishment works at Evans Landing Wharf.

The works will include:

  • Replacement of the wharf deck (from marine ply to concrete panels)
  • Repair and replacement of steel members
  • Blasting and painting of the steel substructure
  • Replacement of handrails.

The works are expected to begin on Friday, 3 August 2018 and take about three months to complete.

When the works take place, public access to the Evans Landing Wharf and the nearby parking area will be restricted.

The restricted public access is needed to ensure public safety while the project is under way.

NQBP is working with operational users of Evans Landing Wharf to ensure there will be minimal disruption to business.

Project updates

NQBP is communicating the works through social media, flyers, advertising, emails, signage and face-to-face discussions.
