Safety inductions
You need to complete an induction to access a North Queensland Bulk Ports' (NQBP) port or work in one of our offices.
People who need to include delivery drivers, workers for tenants in port-secured areas, contractors, stevedores, transport companies and NQBP Contractors.
If you are only visiting an NQBP port, you may not require a NQBP Port Access Card and therefore will not need to complete an induction.
Complete your induction by following these steps:
Step one: Access our learning portal and create an account.
Step two: Click on the Learning Category which applies to you:
- Port of Mackay Induction
- Port of Abbot Point Induction
- NQBP Contractors Induction, who work for NQBP in a Port/or NQBP Office.
Step three: Upload a passport size jpg. photo (headshot) (only required for the Port of Abbot Point Induction).
Step four: Fill in all your details and upload an Operational Needs Letter, outlining your need to work at the port. Download the Template of Operational Needs Letter.
Step five: Complete your induction.
If you need an access card, you can collect and pay for it at our Port Security Office:

Please note: Access cards are $100.00 including GST each. Payment is to be made by EFTPOS or credit card upon collection of your card.

Please note: Access cards are $100 including GST. Cards will be printed once payment has been made and will be available for collection at the Port of Abbot Point Security Gate (7 to 10 business days) or the Port of Mackay Security Office.
For those visiting the Port of Mackay and not conducting work, you must obtain a Visitor access card.
You must be escorted by an inducted person at all times and abide by all NQBP directions and requirements.
Visitors cannot conduct work activities while visiting.
