Bowen and Abbot Point CRG

Nominations are open for Bowen and Abbot Point Community Reference Group.

Bowen residents are invited to apply for a three-year term on North Queensland Bulk Ports Corporation’s (NQBP) first Bowen and Abbot Point Community Reference Group (CRG).

The CRG will provide an invaluable link between us and our Bowen community.

It will provide a forum for discussion between NQBP and representatives of the community, stakeholder groups and the local council on issues relating to the operation, development and planning activities within Bowen and Abbot Point.

A total of six (6) positions are available including:

  • three (3) community representatives
  • two (2) recreational group representatives (boating, surfing or fishing)
  • one (1) local business representative

CRG member responsibilities

The voluntary membership term is three years with the CRGs meeting quarterly each year.

As a CRG member, you will be expected to:

  • contribute constructively to CRG discussions
  • attend meetings a minimum of three times a year
  • communicate information to the broader community and/or your interest group

Who can apply?

Local community representatives must meet the following criteria:

  • be current Bowen residents or landowners within the Whitsunday Local Government Area (consideration will be given to proximity to the Port)
  • demonstrate involvement in local community groups and/or activities
  • have knowledge and awareness of NQBP and related issues of concern to the local community;
  • be able to represent and communicate the interests of the Bowen community
  • adhere to the CRG Code of Conduct and Terms of Reference
