Residents living near the Ports of Mackay and Hay Point have one week left to nominate for a seat on North Queensland Bulk Ports Corporation (NQBP) Community Reference Groups (CRGs).
NQBP Chief Executive Officer Nicolas Fertin said the CRGs provide a forum for NQBP and community members to discuss and raise issues relating to port operations and development.
“NQBP CRGs enable members to provide feedback, raise any concerns and to share how we can work together to improve outcomes,” Mr Fertin said.
“The CRGs, which have been running for almost 20 years, provide an invaluable link between NQBP and our port communities.”
“I would encourage anyone who is interested in regularly engaging with NQBP to apply for a position.”
Six positions, including three community representatives, one local Marina resident and two recreational group (boating, surfing or fishing) representatives, are available on the Port of Mackay CRG.
Eight positions are available for community representatives and interest group representatives on the Port of Hay Point CRG.
The CRG positions are made up of a diverse range of representatives including Yuwi, Mackay Regional Council, local businesses, port industry, environment and community members. The voluntary membership term is three years with the CRGs meeting quarterly each year.
Nominations close 5pm Friday 29 January 2021.
