Work has officially begun on the $2 million North Wall Recreational Area improvement project near the Port of Mackay.
Minister for Finance, Trade, Employment and Training, the Honourable Ros Bates, Member for Mackay Nigel Dalton and Member for Mirani Glen Kelly joined North Queensland Bulk Ports (NQBP) Chair Jane McTaggart and Acting CEO Carissa Mansfield this morning to announce the start of construction.
Queensland-based company JMAC Constructions will lead the works, highlighting the natural beauty of the much-loved community area while maintaining its unique and peaceful outlook.
Every effort is being made to minimise disruption during the works. A temporary car park and beach access point are now in place to allow continued safe use during the works.
Once complete, the improvements to the North Wall recreational area will offer lasting benefits not only to its current visitors but also to future generations.
